Goodwin, embarrassed, apologized for her errors and disclosed that she’d come to a hefty monetary settlement with McTaggart back in 1989. She explained that in researching her subjects, Goodwin copied down information in longhand. She admitted that she’d copied sections of McTaggart’s book and then later failed to distinguish between her own observations and passages from that book. Goodwin immediately owned up to her error, as she had done shortly after the book was published. I think Goodwin would also tell you that redemption has been a part of her life since the day in March 2002 when The Weekly Standard reported that her 1987 book, “The Fitzgeralds and the Kennedys,” contained sections that had been written by another author, Lynne McTaggart. Their flaws were a big part of Goodwin’s analysis in the books she wrote on each man. Goodwin’s latest book, “Leadership,” discusses that trait in four of the author’s favorite subjects - Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin Roosevelt and Lyndon Johnson. 12 presentation at Gannon University’s Hammermill Center. ![]() Redemption is one of the recurring themes in books by Doris Kearns Goodwin, the best-selling author who will headline the Jefferson Education Society’s Global Summit X with a Nov.
